Product leading, conference speaking, partnering: My 2024 wrapped

From leading on digital transformations and new website launches, through to speaking at conferences, and forging new partnerships, 2024 was a busy and varied year for me.

Here’s the freelance product gigs I worked on and some news of what’s to come in 2025.

💻 In February, as product lead working with the Slovak National Gallery digital team, we completed a discovery project to refresh the Slovak National Theatre website. My first ever product gig in Slovak.

👑 Since February, I have been leading on the product strategy, user research and UX foundations for Royal Collection Trust's new online collection, working closely with the product agency manifesto since September.

💌 In early spring, I worked with magnus billgren to map out a new, heart-warming product for the Swedish postal service, to help people preserve memories that matter. My first product gig in Sweden.

🗣️ In April, I spoke at the inaugural Digital Works Conference in Leeds. I gave a lightning-speed Pecha Kucha talk on how to create a more user-led internal culture when building digital projects.

🤝 In April, I also became Associate Partner at BARC Scandinavia, who strengthen and offer strategic support to cultural organisations in the Nordics. My area of expertise at BARC is digital transformation and data-driven decision-making.

💰 In late spring, I worked with lots of teams at Royal Shakespeare Company to map out and cost a new, large-scale product for schools and its development lifecycle.

🟨 In August, the new Southbank Centre website launched. I led on defining, developing and delivering it on the agency-side for over 9 months. Substrakt designed and built it, with support from Accessible by Design on accessibility and Storythings to make the content design pop.

🌍 Since September, I've been working with Projekt Europa, who champion migrant creatives in theatre, on a new online project to showcase more internationally diverse talent to casting directors and agents.

🚀 In September, I also joined the Arts Council England team as a freelance Digital Advisor on the Bloomberg Philanthropies Digital Accelerator Programme, which helps cultural organisations invest in strategic digital infrastructure projects. As part of it, I've been advising the WOW Foundation and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on really exciting new projects.

🗣️ Lastly, in December, I spoke at the Museums Computer Group (MCG) Museums+Tech Conference in Birmingham, responding to the theme of "Who is this for? And why should they care?".

I'm very grateful for the opportunities and the people I got to know and spend time with this year. A particular shout-out goes to Michal Čudrnák, Filip Ruisl and Katarína Vass (Buzová) at SNG, Hannah Boulton and Kathryn Nutt at RCT, Ash Mann, Rebekah Ford, Hilary Knight, Annette Mees and Kati Price (The Avengers), Martin Buck Hegaard at BARC, Sarah Ellis and the RSC teams, Southbank's Daniel Alicandro and the master deliverer Katherine Hall, Ethan Joseph, Charlotte Penny and the whole ACE and Advisor team, Domino Pateman and the WOW team, and Anthony Wilkinson at RIBA.

Looking forward to connecting with more of you in 2025 – and would love to chat if you’d like to discuss your digital project. Get in touch or book a time with me.
